Spirit of Chennai Video Song – Vikram

Spirit of Chennai Video Song – Vikram: “I made this video out of guilt” – #ChiyaanVikram on #SpiritOfChennai Vikram, who launched his 7-minute video, the flood anthem Spirit of Chennai, talks about what went into the making of the video and recalls events that happened around him during the disaster last December. Chiyaan Vikram is always known for his enthusiasm and down-to-earth attitude. And he looked no different on Sunday at the event where he released the video of his debut directorial, Spirit of Chennai. The video, which is a 7-minute musical tribute to the city that confronted one of the biggest flood disasters last December, has many stars to it including Abishek Bachchan. “I wanted to get Dhoni for the video because of his IPL connect with the city” said Vikram. “He couldn’t make it because of his busy schedule” he added. Reminiscing about the time, he spent in the city during the disaster, he said, “I was disconnected from the world and did not know what people across the city went through. However, in my neighbourhood I went around enquiring after my neighbours and helping them. We even played dumb charades over a cup of tea.” Vikram also shared what triggered him to come up with this tribute for which he brought artists across the country together. “I made this video out of guilt. I wanted to do something for the city and this idea cropped up in my mind. Then I called Vijay Milton and discussed the concept with him. Later, things fell in place.” He also said he is extremely thankful to actors and rest of the crew who helped him in achieving this. “Everyone came together just for a few seconds without any ego. Most of the artists featured in this video do not even have their roots in Chennai, including me, a Paramakudi guy. But then yes, we did it for Chennai” concludes Vikram.
