Popular television anchor DD a.k.a. Divyadarshini has apologized to newsmen from the print and television media for comments reportedly uttered on television during a recent interview she conducted on Vijay TV.
DD, as she is referred to by her fans, hosts ‘Koffee with DD’, a popular show for Vijay TV. On Ganesh Chaturhi Day, DD’s show had national award-winning actor and Keerthy Suresh, the lead pair of director Prabhu Solomon’s upcoming film Thodari, on her show.
During the chat, Keerthy said that the most amusing rumour that she came across was the news report which said she was to marry comedian Sathish.
DD’s reply to this was not in good taste and many scribes took strong objection to this as she said, albeit in a lighter vein, that a scribe reportedly demanded and got Rs.1000/- from Sathish for ‘planting’ this rumour. Scribes got up on social networking sites and condemned DD for her remark.
Replying to them via her Twitter account, DD has said that she was only ‘joking’. “I have always had the highest regard for newsmen and I never thought of hurting them in any manner. If they feel hurt, I seek apologies from them!” her tweet said.
I too watched that interview. I feel that her statement could no way hurt a journalist. All she did was making fun of Sathish and she din’t try to hurt anyone else, Anyway it shows her humility when she has asked for apologies. (y)
This is so stupid. She shouldn’t have to apologise. Some people need to stop being over sensitive.
