Kabali Box Office Collection :
In Tamil Nadu — which is Rajinikanth’s core fan base – trade sources peg its collections at a whopping Rs 21.5 cr, from 720-odd screens, out of the 1,080 screens in the state. This in itself, is a record day one opening collection for the state.
Last year, Ajith’s Vedalam is reported to have made Rs 15.5 cr on its opening day, and now Kabali has beaten the record by a wide margin.
In Kerala, the movie is expected to have grossed more than Rs 4 crores on day 1, while in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, the movie is estimated to have collected around Rs 10 crores from the opening day. Whereas in Karnataka the film is said to have grossed more than 6 crores. In North India, the film has grossed around 4 crores on Day 1 which is said to be the highest till date!

A major plus for Kabali was that it got a ‘U’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, which enabled it to get exemption from entertainment tax in the state, as per Tamil Nadu government rules.
The movie, which saw a tremendous opening at the Indian box office, also dominated the box office in the international market emerging as number 1 in Malaysia, number 3 in USA-Canada and number 10 in UK. The film has reportedly earned Rs 200 crore already with the sale of satellite rights etc. It also created box office history in the US by registering the highest viewership for an Indian film premiere. This means at least one record made by Baahubali and Salman Khan’s Sultan has already been shattered.
“With $1.45M Premier Gross sofar #Kabali’s officially All-Time #1 Premier grosser in the US beating #Baahubali @superstarrajini,” TamilBoxOffice tweeted on Friday. Kabali’s US distributor Cine Galaxy also tweeted, “#Kabali @ $1,317,288 as of 4 pm EST Heading towards a record premiere day.”
According to reports, Bahubali earned $1,382,076 from its US premiere while Sultan brought in $786,194. Given the frenzy at ticket windows in India, more than a few records will be shattered by Rajinikanth soon
