Actor Ranjith’s Early Life and Career:
In 1993, actor Ranjith made his acting debut in the movie Pon Vilangu, which was written and directed by R. K. Selvamani and K. S. Rajkumar. Sharing the stage alongside veteran artists like actor Rahman, Sivaranjani, and actress Ramya Krishnan, he immediately made an impression. Reviewers like K. Vijayan of the New Straits Times praised Ranjith for his first role as an actor, pointing out that despite his physique, he did a very good job portraying the character.
In 1994, Ranjith achieved his debut main role in Sindhu Nathi Poo, a countryside drama that gained him more fame. After that, he was seen in smaller roles and sometimes as the main character, like in Minor Mappillai (1996) and Avathara Purushan (1996). Actor Ranjith between the years 1999 to 2001 consistently took on different characters, mostly portraying antagonists or secondary roles. Nevertheless, he took on main roles in movies such as Nesam Pudhusu (1999) and Kann Thirandhu Paaramma (2000), but they were not very successful.
In 2003, Ranjith made a daring move by directing, producing, and acting in the movie Bheeshmar. Regrettably, despite all his attempts, the movie did not do well at the box office. For a considerable amount of time, he served as a delegate member for the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party when it was headed by former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalitha. Actor Ranjith soon then became a member of the AIADMK under acting chief minister O. Panneerselvam’s leadership in 2016, following the demise of Jayalalithaa. After deciding to leave the AIADMK party in 2018, Actor Ranjith joined the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) opposition party and was appointed deputy leader which actually witnessed his surging growth in the political career. But Ranjith’s time with PMK was short-lived. In 2019, Ranjith resigned from the party, citing his disagreement with the decision to support AIADMK once again in the Indian national elections.
