Sunita Gogoi popular dancer in Vijay TV had recently been involved in an accident which a video went viral on social media. In the video, we saw the public passing abusive comments at Sunita and strongly blamed her for the drunk driving. Responding to the video she said,
“First of all, I was not drunk and I was not even driving the car. In fact, I don’t know how to drive a car and I don’t even hold a license. I always have a driver and I ensure he was not drunk as well. I was sleeping in the backseat of my car post my tiring schedule in Vellore when the accident took place.
I was not aware of the intensity of the issue till I got out of the car. Both the vehicles were affected, and I agree it is my driver’s fault for engaging us in an accident. But, accidents happen everywhere and it’s not the time to blame and take sides.
When I got out of the car everyone started yelling at me using abusive language and I did not know how to react. The way the public received me was very shocking to me. I know very little Tamil and hence I was shocked about what was happening and unable to understand them.
Everyone started shooting videos of the spot and the only reason I did not respond much is that I didn’t understand what was happening due to the language barrier which they all assumed was because I was drunk. I tried explaining but, was left helpless.
We decided to go ahead and handle this issue very formally and legally. The person on the other end is not hurt and he is all fine too. So, I don’t understand why they went on to blame me so much.”
