Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Jilla and Thala Ajith’s Veeram released 3 years ago on this day. Review wise Veeram was ahead of Jilla but still both movie had good reviews from the family audience. Box Offcie wise Jilla was number 1 and Veeram was number 2.
Vijay and Ajith are competitors and rivals in Kollywood, and their fans too. But it is rare that they release their movies at the same time. It has happened only few times. The first time they clashed together was in year 2000, Vijay’s Kushi was blockbuster and Ajith’s Unnai Kodu Ennai Tharuven was a flop. In 2002 they clashed again but this time Ajith’s Villain got positive reviews and declared as a blockbuster and Vijay’s bagavathy was a normal hit. In 2003 Deepavali Vijay’s Thirumalai and Ajith’s Anjaneya clashed but this time Thalapathy won the race.
Again in 2006 Pongal Vijay’s Aathi and Ajith’s Paramasivan was competing, both these movies got negative reviews but Paramasivan was considered to be better than Aathi. In 2007 Vijay’s Pokkiri and Ajith’s Aalwar clashed in Pongal again and Both Ajith fans and Vijay fans will not forget this Pongal as Vijay’s Pokkiri was declared as a blockbuster while Ajith’s Aalwar got removed from theatres in less than a week. After 7 years in 2014 Vijay (Jilla) and Ajith (Veeram) released their movies together and both Vijay fans and Ajith fans agreed this clash was a Draw as both these movies got decent reviews and collections.
